You are correct. Given the nature of the Syrian rebel forces, the best chance for Israel to neutralize historically hostile rebels is exactly what they have done. With Iran and Russian influence reduced, perhaps Lebanon can rid themselves of Hezbollah power and the country can begin rebuilding their past status.
