Yes, we have been involved in many conflicts, but if you ask the average American, we can't name more than 4 or 5 of them at best. If it's local and small, it's ignored. Other political and/or military-industrial interests keep us involved in conflicts world-wide, but the public ignores most of them, and they are not the subject of constant news coverage as were Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan.
