When I was young there was still the idea that “what’s good for GM is good for the country”. CEOs made 30 times the salary of their average workers. Today the meme says what’s good for profits is all that matters. There is little though for people or country. Greed is usually the only clear motive in corporate governance. Witness the clear profit motives during Covid when prices were raised unrelated or in excess of real costs in so many cases. The more people see ethos clearly the more anger will drive behavior. Get money out of politics and perhaps corporate greed will not drive politics.
