In older US cities one can find relaxing cafes as well. The key is older cities that were build before cars existed. There’s an inherent advantage to European cities with streets too small for cars. I’ve lived in small town Germany, spent months visiting FRANCE, and lived in Manhattan. All have cafes that are not just coffee shops, but they are easier to find on the continent. I’m heading there in the fall, but I still get a lot of coffee steins the US.
