I majored in English lit and read dune at least 50 years ago. The book was better for those who love letting the words create images in your mind. The mind can work miracles and build depth that film does not equal. But for those without a love of reading, watch the movie. It’s shallow and without the layers of character and nuance of the book but entertaining. Haven’t seen part II yet but it misses the deep character development and spiritualistic intrigue of the book. But as an epic movie it works. Like the film, love the book. That’s hard to admit as a lot major too.
