An interesting opinion piece from the NYTimes: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/11/09/opinion/trump-biden-nation-divided.html. How about the fact that in states Trump won in 2016 and Biden won this year, the progressive candidates in down-ticket races underperformed Biden consistently, often by considerable margins. So, in fact, the progressive movement is not catching on across the board. Margins of victory are votes against Trump, for a more moderate, honest change of leadership, and not for the progressive agenda. People wanted a split government because they are not ready for what the fear from l"eftists." Whether the progressive movement can truely be called leftist or not, half the country fears the moniker and isn't waiting to go there. Progressive policy is supported by the majority of Americans, but not "leftist" policy. As progressives, we need to be clearer about what that is and counter the notions that we are socialists or communists. We have not done that, nor has the progressive movement demonstrated in this election the wide-spread support that you suggest is there. It's a minority of the Dems right now, and a smaller minority of the country. Keep your power dry and learn to use it selectively to support the incremental change I have suggested in prior responses.
